Bio

Angel Mateos is a research professor at UC Berkeley and principal investigator for the UCPRC at Berkeley. He has served as principal investigator for numerous research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry for Public Works, the European Union, the World Bank, the Federal Highway Administration, the California Department of Transportation, and the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, among others. He is a former associate professor of geotechnical engineering at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His main expertise is in full-scale and mechanistic-empirical design of asphalt and concrete pavements, as well as the fundamental characterization and modeling of pavement materials. He holds a Master of Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
